Artist's Statement
I do art because I get inspired as I work. I want to let my art grow at
New World School of the Arts. I hope one day I can look at my artwork
and think "Wow" because I can't believe how much my work has grown.
I like photography, so a piece often starts with an interesting
photograph I have
taken of something looked at in a strange way, for instance, me taking a
picture of me in a
blue mirror looking at the sky. Next I choose a medium. Although it’s
usually acrylics, I sometimes choose other materials. As I work with
paint, I am reminded of all the colors
used in a green shirt, or a brown table leg: blue, yellow, red and
brown.
My work has grown out of my childish drawings into something I can feel
proud
of. Now my work is compositionally sound, shows value, and is visually
interesting. I
hope my work will continue to grow and inspire me.
